The party was as raucously as George had expected. Yet he found himself lingering at the edge of the spectacle, rather observing the others than participating. George slowly sipped on the cocktail Lee had pressed into his hands. There were cranberries in it and a stick of rosemary. George would've preferred a beer. He sighed.

Last time he'd shied away from other people, from being part of the group had been after Fred's death. This though... This wasn't comparable to the loss he'd felt back then. This was different. When he spotted Viktor standing outside on the porch, he knew that a confrontation was unavoidable.

"I'm taking the bull by the horns, Freddy," George said quietly, cast a spell to shield him from the cold, and went outside. "Why are you out here instead of inside?"

Viktor flinched a little when he heard George's voice, but he didn't turn around and kept facing the garden. "I find I can think better out here."

George looked at his boyfriend—he wasn't even using a warming charm. "Aren't you cold?"

Viktor shrugged. "No, not really."

George sighed. "Viktor, what's up? Something is clearly wrong—and has been for a while now."

Viktor sighed and looked up at the stars. George wanted to shake him, to scream at him, just in order to get him to talk. "There is a man," he started and suddenly, George thought he'd do everything just to get him to stop talking. Instead, he found himself frozen and unable to say anything. "He is in the team and I—he has been making advances towards me for a while now."

George's mouth suddenly felt dry. He took a big gulp of the cocktail. "Have you—?"

"No."

Thank Merlin, George thought and immediately wondered if it made such a difference whether Viktor had slept with that other man when he so obviously occupied so many of Viktor's thoughts.

"No," Viktor repeated. "You have to understand that I didn't want this. I don't want it, still. It's just—"

"Are you in love?"

This time, there was no strong 'No' coming from Viktor's lips. Instead he shook his head. "I like him. He is nice and good looking." His honesty stung in the way that a sword to the chest would sting.

"What do you want to do?" George wouldn't beg. He'd fight, if there was even a single grain of hope. But if there wasn't, he'd walk away with his head held fucking high.

"I thought I would get through this crush without you noticing."

"Fat chance with you being so withdrawn."

"Yes." Viktor exhaled slowly. "I realise that now. I want you to be happy. I want to be happy."

"But do you want to break up? If he's so nice and good looking." It was one of the hardest questions George ever had to ask.

"Do you remember when we met again after the war?"

"Of course," George said, slightly thrown by the change of topic. "I was still deeply depressed because of Freddy's death. You tried very hard to help me out of that dark hole."

"I Apparated to here from Bulgaria as often as I could. And I never gave up until you let me in."

George smiled slightly. "Yes, you basically fought me until I opened up and let you into my life."

Viktor took his hand. "And that is my answer."

George finally dared to look at Viktor. "You'll fight for us."

"If I didn't already lose you. If I didn't destroy—"

George pulled Viktor in for a kiss. Maybe it was awkward, maybe it felt different to how it had felt before, but George needed the familiarity of their kiss. It served as a reminder of what had been and what would be there again, if only they both fought for it. And he would fight. And he would win.

Title: Traditions

Pairing: Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger
Prompt: Written for [info]adventdrabbles' Dec 15 Prompt: Homemade Ornaments
Word Count: 200
Warnings: none
A/N: All entries to this series can be found here.

Ron and Hermione decorated the tree when Rosie had finally fallen asleep. It was nice to have this quiet moment to themselves—and special enough for Hermione to open a bottle of wine to celebrate the moment.

Hermione took a sip and opened the next box of Christmas decoration. She took out a couple of smaller boxes with baubles, but slowed down when she found a single ornament wrapped in paper towels. Carefully, she lifted it up and unwrapped it. "What is this?" she asked, with a little bit of fascinated awe in her voice. The ornament certainly was unique.

"Oh!" Ron rushed over to her and quickly took the ornament from her. "Bloody hell, is that thing still in there?"

Hermione tugged on Ron's jumper. "Ron, did you make that yourself?"

Her husband blushed brightly. "When I was a kid. A small one. Very small."

Hermione pried the ornament from Ron's fingers and hung it on the tree. "I think it's cute."

"It's bloody ugly, that's what it is."

Hermione shook her head. "We should make one with Rose. It could be our family tradition."

"An ugly tradition," Ron laughed, but looked at the ornament wistfully.

"A wonderful tradition."

Title: Magical

Rating: PG
Pairing: Harry Potter/Severus Snape
Prompt: Written for [info]adventdrabbles' Dec 16 Prompt: Footprints in the snow
Word Count: 200
Warnings: none
A/N: All entries to this series can be found here.

Harry and Severus slowly were walking side by side down the street. Snow had fallen while they had been in the restaurant and the footprints that trailed after them painted a clear picture of two men that were comfortable with each other. Hands almost touching, hanging at their sides despite the cold, instead of being stuffed into pockets, they talked quietly.

"I admit, I never expected the children to be this hyper," Harry said, speaking of Christmas time. His memory of his childhood around this time was hazy, clinging to the magic moments—the first time he'd really received presents, festive meals in the Great Hall, Christmas with the Weasleys and Sirius.

"It's the same every year," Snape said.

"Well, you have to admit that Christmas at Hogwarts is a special kind of magical." Soon, they would have to Disapparate and return to Hogwarts. But Harry didn't want to go back yet to their lives as proper professors. For now he just wanted to be a man whose heart beat faster when he was this close to Snape. Harry took a deep breath and reached for Snape's hand. For a second, Snape almost froze, but then he squeezed Harry's hand.

Title: Luna's Talents
Author: [info]gin_tonic/[info]me_midget
Rating: PG
Characters: Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood
Prompt: Written for [info]adventdrabbles' Dec 17 Prompt: Nativity Scene
Word Count: 200
Warnings: none
A/N: All entries to this series can be found here.

The morning after Lee's party found Ginny with a bad headache. Too hungover to go to the apothecary to get hangover potion, she opted for a bacon sandwich while sitting on the floor in the living room and staring at the Christmas tree she put up the day before. What was still missing, she thought as she tried to distract herself from her headache, was a nativity scene.

Back home, during their childhood, Fred and George would always go to the garden and stun garden gnomes, put costumes on them and put them in the nativity scene or on the tree. This year, she would have to do something on her own, though. From what she had seen, George was too busy to stun gnomes for her.

Behind her, on the couch, Luna gave a tiny groan when she woke up. Ginny tried not to laugh—Luna's groans always sounded like squeaks. "There's bacon in the frying pan," she said. "Or facon in the fridge, if you'd rather have that." Maybe she should ask Luna to paint a nativity scene for her and then hang that. Luna always had been good at painting. "I'll get you a cup of tea."
