Of course, he had to accept his stupid brother's invitation. And of course, he had to look as hot as he had when Charlie had gone on a few dates with him. Great dates, phenomenal even, if one ignored the fact that they had always ended with Kingsley bidding Charlie a good night at Charlie's front door. No kiss, nothing.
Charlie took a large gulp of his beer. He knew when to give up something that clearly wasn't going to happen—especially since Kingsley was too polite to admit that he wasn't interested in that way in Charlie. Therefore, they hadn't seen each other in months.
Next to him, George started rummaging in one of his many bags and pulled out a large, blue box. "Christmas cookies, anyone?"
Charlie just stared at him until George shrugged and stuffed his face with a cookie.
"So, Charlie," Kingley said in his deep honeyed voice. "How have you been?"
Charlie gulped. It had been much easier to avoid meeting Kingsley than to try and control his body's reaction to the man. "Fine," he said and cleared his throat. "Just, you know, busy."
"Yes, I heard. Three new hatchlings?"
George smiled into his pint.
