Advent Drabbles - Dec 19-21, Harry Potter, George/Viktor, various

I realise I still owe you a couple of Advent Drabbles - fear not, the busy holiday season didn't make me completely forget about George and Viktor's story (and the Snarry Drabble Series will be concluded, too). Anway, without further ado:

Viktor had no idea why George had agreed to meet him. Their talk outside the shop hadn't been all that great and unsurprisingly, George hadn't been wooed just by Viktor's appearance.

After a year back in Quidditch and working in the British league, he had realised that things weren't as black and white as they used to. Maybe now, he thought, he could be the person both he and George deserved – if he got another chance.

Viktor looked at the package in his hands. There was nothing secret about this gift, but he still hoped it could help him explain.

"Mittens?" George said, holding up the two red things Viktor had carefully gift wrapped. It was obvious that George had expected something... different. Viktor understood – they didn't look exactly elegant.

"Yes, mittens. For your hands."

"I know what they are for." George rolled his eyes. "I just don't understand why you'd give them to me."

"So your hands don't get cold," Viktor said. When George was about to roll his eyes again, he added, "On your broom. I wanted to ask you if you'd like to come play with me at the team's Christmas benefit match. As my date. If that is okay with you..." Viktor trailed off.

George looked back and forth between Viktor and the mittens. "You're kidding."

Viktor sighed. "It's okay if you don't want to."

"No! I mean! Yes! I'd like that. I'd really like that." They both grinned at each other from ear to ear.

George sank on the sofa next to Viktor with a groan. "You okay?" Viktor asked.

"Peachy," George said, smiling all the same. "Haven't played a proper match in ages." Viktor had been impressed – he hadn't expected George to play with that much enthusiasm and veracity. He'd gone head to head with the professional beater and had even won a battle or two.

"I think the last time I had this many bruises was when I was working on our Explosive Wonder Boxes."

Viktor summoned two steaming hot toddies for the two of them, as he wasn't inclined to move, either.
