HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINA!
Jun. 10th, 2008 02:39 pmBirthday Ficlet for
drachenmina - I hope you have had a wonderful day so far and that it will be even more wonderful before it ends. And I hope there will be cake. :P
Title: Green Balloon
Pairing: Harry/Severus
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Summary: It's Harry's birthday.
Word Count: 333
When Harry woke up it was just one of those days. Severus' side of the bed was already empty and cold, and he could smell the faint scent of coffee that came from the kitchen. Severus would probably be in his lab already, having left Harry's breakfast under a Stasis Charm before he went.
Harry didn't know why exactly he had expected it to be different today.
Sure, it was his birthday, but that had never before changed anything. Given, now that he and Severus were together he had kind of hoped ... but he should have known that he wouldn't wake up to a room full of presents and balloons. Severus wasn't the type, you see.
And really, what did it matter? Harry thought as he rolled himself out of bed, grabbing a dressing gown in the process. Severus had already said he had booked a table in their favourite restaurant. They would celebrate – just not right now. And that was okay, alright?
With a barely suppressed sigh Harry slouched out of the bedroom, his eyes still half closed, going straight for the coffee. As the hot liquid burst over his taste buds (How did Severus manage to always make it taste so good?) his eyes opened slowly and he turned towards the table.
Harry froze in his tracks. That couldn't . . . he couldn't have . . . A brightly wrapped present was sitting in the middle of the table, right next to a cupcake that was topped with a small candle, waiting for him. And above it all a balloon (it was green) hovered in the air. Harry blinked – one . . . two . . . three times – and yet it was still there.
"Happy birthday." Strong arms sneaked around Harry's chest and squeezed him gently.
"How –?" Harry pressed out, then put his cup down with a trembling hand, turned around in Severus' arms and kissed him, morning-coffee-breath and all. It seemed like this day would be different than any other birthday before, after all.
