Title: Hopes and Dreams
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 01 Prompt: Gingerbread
Word Count: 100

There was a lot that Harry hoped for this Christmas season. He hoped for nice evenings spent with friends and mulled wine. For Christmas cheer and kisses beneath mistletoe. And for a proposal.

Three years ago he and Severus had begun dating and now that they were settled in their lives, Harry thought it was the right time to take the next step. Question was whether Severus thought so too.

Harry had dropped a couple of hints, just to be sure. Like baking gingerbread-grooms. And it wasn't even that he keen on getting married. He was keen on marrying Severus.

Title: Wishlist
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 02 Prompt: Scrooge
Word Count: 100

Getting Severus in the mood was usually not a problem. But to get him in the mood for Christmas was a delicate undertaking. Having three years experience under his belt, Harry had prepared the mulled wine in advance, lit the fireplace and had sparsely decorated the living room.

And when Severus came home and smiled as Harry brought him a drink, Harry knew he'd been successful.

"I suppose you already got your wish list ready?"

"Kind of," Harry said and blushed. "What about you?"

Severus raised an eyebrow and pulled Harry onto his lap. "I already have everything I want."

Title: Someday
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 03 Prompt: Winter Hot Tub
Word Count: 100

Harry's subtle hints notwithstanding, Severus didn't seem like he would pop the question any time soon. It was complicated - Harry wanted Severus to propose, but he also wanted Severus to do it because he thought it was the right time, too. Telling Severus was therefore out; he had to wait for him to come to that particular realisation on his own.

He had his eyes closed as he was lying in the bathtub, pondering. The water rippled as Severus gently pushed him forward and slipped in behind Harry. "Not as good as a proper hot tub, but…"

"Maybe someday."

Title: On his mind
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 04 Prompt: Puppies & Babies
Word Count: 100

"I can't believe how good he is with babies," Hermione said, once again, as she and Severus watched Harry sway through the room with her baby girl.

Severus nodded. "Babies and puppies. They all love him." His eyes rested on Harry and Hermione wondered what was going on in Severus' head. She had talked with Harry about his wishes for their future and knew exactly what was on Harry's mind.

Hermione glanced at him slyly. She couldn't help it. "Maybe you should consider getting one then."

"I'm not one for dogs." Severus took a long sip of his mulled wine.

Title: Kitschiness
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 05 Prompt: Gift of jewelry
Word Count: 100

When Harry had been younger, he'd often wondered how people could be so crazy about marriage when it was love that was important. Now, Harry understood – marriage meant being connected, being bound to each other. It gave him a sense of 'forever' – and that was exactly what he wanted with Severus. One tiny gift of jewelry could bring all that.

Unable to sleep, Harry rolled out of bed and looked at the stars. Jewels in the sky, he thought, and marveled at his kitschiness. Shaking his head, he looked back at Severus. It was time to go on the offensive.

Title: Cold Morning
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 06 Prompt: Frost
Word Count: 100

Hands buried deep in his pockets, Severus slowly wandered down the road from his and Harry's house. He liked these early morning strolls, especially when the world was covered in frost.

Leaving the outskirts of town behind him, he wandered along the fields, occasionally glancing left or right in case he spotted a rare ingredient for his potions.

Severus thought of Harry – how he'd never wake when Severus got up in the morning. How hot he had been the night before. He could easily imagine himself spending the rest of his life with this man. But was he ready to?

Title: Memories
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 07 Prompt: Snow globe
Word Count: 100

From a Muggle perspective, there was nothing magical about this little Scottish town. But as a wizard, Harry could see things others could not.

Fairy lights – fake and real – shone on every roof, and in the middle of town, small booths that sold mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and little gifts had been put up. Harry's arm in Severus', they strolled amidst the swirling snowflakes.

"You know," Harry said quietly, "This reminds me of the snow globe Mrs Figg once have me for Christmas."

"What happened to it?"

Harry shrugged. "I don't know. I must've lost it in the war."

"Hmm."

Title: Sudden Change
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 08 Prompt: Cuddling under the covers
Word Count: 100

One of the best things about winter was cuddling, Harry found. Usually, Severus wasn't one to cuddle, but once snow started falling, things changed. Blankets appeared on the couch without Harry having to drag them from the cupboard. Harry long suspected Severus was spelling the room colder to have a reason for offering Harry to slip under his blanket.

Of course, Severus didn't have to ask Harry twice – not even once, actually – but Harry said nothing, snuggled up against Severus and sighed happily. And while Severus read his books, Harry watched the fire until he fell asleep against Severus' shoulder.

Title: Theirs
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 09 Prompt:
Home for Christmas
Word Count: 100

Over the weeks of Advent, Harry liked adding bits and pieces of Christmas decoration to those he had already distributed around the house. Severus was very particular about where things had to be, but he had become mellower over the months since Harry had moved in.

Harry had added his own furniture and pictures to the ones Severus already had and the place had slowly transformed from Severus' house to theirs.

This Christmas was the first they spent together, but it would be the first they would spend together at their home. Harry looked around and sighed happily. Home. Finally.

Title: The Fool
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 10 Prompt: Red and Green
Word Count: 288

Part of Harry's plan to take action was to find out what a good husband was made of. He asked Hermione, who s said she liked when Ron helped around the house. Ginny said she loved when Dean was passionate. And Luna... Well, Luna was rather nonspecific.

Therefore, Harry decided to cook dinner naked. Usually, they shared cooking duties, because neither of them was rather good at it. And Harry suddenly remembered this while hot oil was splashing everywhere – and he was grateful he had decided to wear an apron. As the stove started smoking, Harry ripped open the windows and stood shivering in the mess that was their kitchen. He checked what was still edible and was dismayed when Severus found him just as he saw the tomato-and-cucumber salad was still okay.

"What are you doing?"

Harry, torn between banging his head against the wall and crying, said:"Making you dinner."

Severus closed the windows, looked at the burned food and said: "Fancy." Then he spelled the remnants away, led Harry into the living room and pushed him on the couch. He left and returned with sandwiches, Harry's salad and a blanket that he wrapped Harry in. "What's gotten into your head?"

Harry shrugged and mutely nibbled on his sandwich. Naturally, after a couple of minutes of silence, he caved and said: "I just wanted to make you a nice dinner. You know, to impress you."

"Why would you want to impress me?" Severus raised his eyebrows. "We have been an item for almost three years now."

Harry nodded, but said nothing. Because how could he tell Severus the real reason without pressuring him to act?

"You are a fool," Severus just said and pulled him close.

Title: Nurse Severus
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 11 Prompt: Fairy Lights
Word Count: 100

Naturally, Harry's stunt had earned him a cold. And while Severus had enjoyed seeing Harry dressed in nothing but an apron, he did not enjoy taking care of a sick Harry. He wasn't good at this – at being nice. But he tried.

"Here," he grumbled as he pushed a little wrapped box across Harry's pillow.

Harry stared at the box. "It's not Christmas yet."

"No."

Harry's eyed widened – the box was filled with fairy lights.

"I will spell them to the window frames, if you so wish."

Harry blinked and sniffed a little.

"Now drink your potion and get better."

Title: Evening Flight
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 12 Prompt: Flying Reindeer
Word Count: 100

Harry needed a new plan. Something involved less cooking and more things that he was actually good at. Flying came to mind immediately. He invited Severus for a romantic flight over the wintery scenery and he agreed – he only needed convincing that he would have to sit behind Harry and not fly by himself.

But that worked out, too, and soon they were up in the air. Even though they were two individuals, to Harry it felt like they were one. Little did he know that they had onlookers and from below he and Severus looked like one flying reindeer.

Title: Trivialities
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 13 Prompt: Worst Gift Ever
Word Count: 100

Severus seldom worried about trivial things. Strange things, surely, but never trivial. Before he and Harry had become close, he'd therefore never worried about gifts. Now he lived in constant fear of giving Harry the worst gift ever.

While he had some ideas as what to give Harry for Christmas, it never seemed right, never enough. And that one thing he wanted to give Harry the most was not a gift, not really.

So Severus fretted, made lists, prowled the shops and got moodier by the minute. Harry didn't help that Harry seemed to know exactly what to get Severus.

Title: Proactive
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 14 Prompt: Naughty or Nice
Word Count: 100

Last year Severus and Harry had used Christmas season to try out various versions of who had been naughty and who had been nice (Harry liked being naughty), but this year it didn't seem like their minds were exactly on it.

For some reason Severus had been cranky for several days now and Harry feared it might be due to his proactive approach to get Severus to propose to him. What if he'd scared Severus off? What if Severus didn't want to marry him at all? With each passing day, Harry worried more about their relationship. Was this the end?

Title:Aimless
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 15 Prompt: Christmas Morning
Word Count: 100

It all started when Harry mentioned the invitation to the Weasleys' on Christmas Morning. Harry didn't know how it happened, but one minute they had been cleaning the dishes after a quiet dinner, the next they had been yelling at each other.

"I don't even know why I bother!"

Severus had clamped his mouth shut right after, but Harry had heard the words all too clearly. Lashing out was the only way to keep his heart from bursting: "Then maybe you shouldn't!" He turned on his heels and fled the stifling warmth of the house. Where to, he didn't know.

Title: Empty
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 16 Prompt: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Word Count: 100

When Harry returned, the house was quiet. He was cold from spending too much time outside, but couldn't get warm, not even inside. He wandered through the house and left the lab for last, but Severus was nowhere to be found. There was no note, no owl pecking at the window, waiting to be let in.

Harry sank down on a kitchen chair and put his head in his hands, unable to comprehend how it had come to this. On the counter he saw the chestnuts they had planned to roast that night.
Where was Severus? Would he come back?

Title: Candle-less
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 17 Prompt: Lighting the menorah
Word Count: 100

Harry's night was restless and lonely. He spent it on the couch, unable to bear the bedroom. Severus didn't come home, not even in the morning. Harry was glad he'd taken the day off – he was in no state to go to work. He tried to keep himself busy, browsed through Severus' books until he found one that held most of the world's winter traditions: Christmas and the Christmas tree, winter solstice and Yule dancing, Hanukkah and lighting the menorah.

Harry shut the book, crossed to the window and looked outside into the candle-less darkness. There still was no Severus.

Title: Nightly Visitor
Rating: PG
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 18 Prompt: Nutcrackers
Word Count: 100

The fire burnt low when a strange noise woke Harry. Wand in hand, he snuck into the kitchen – where he found Severus cracking nuts at the kitchen table. There still was snow on his shoulders. Before Harry could say anything, Severus pointed to the little wrapped box on the table.

Slowly, Harry opened it. Inside there was a snow globe much like the one he'd owned as a child. There even was the same chip in the glass.

"How did you…? Where…?"

"I'm good at finding things." Severus put his hand on Harry's. "Don't even doubt your importance to me."

Title: Emotions
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Written for [community profile] adventdrabbles' Dec 19 Prompt: Yule Log
Word Count: 100

Their peace shaky, Harry tried his best to mend the rift they had opened. They would have to talk, eventually, but for now it was good as it was – they were together again.

The next day, he asked Severus if he was in the mood to go pick their tree and the wood for their Yule Log. He was, and so they went.

The air was crisp, but the promise of snow far off – a white Christmas wasn't guaranteed. In the middle of the wood, Harry hugged Severus around the hips and kissed him, pouring his emotions into the kiss.
