Eventually, Harry had an idea what to give Snape for Christmas. Because he still needed to show Snape how much he cared about him. Harry had found his inspiration in a book—as surprising as that might seem for some. When he had been looking for a certain tome to use as a reference, he'd come across a book that Seamus had once given him for his birthday: A History of Movies—a Muggle book, of course. He'd set up a movie night for two. He just needed to research the proper spells to make things work and an idea how to present this surprise to Snape. Should he wait until Christmas Eve or should he approach Snape before?
Ever since returning from their evening out, Harry had made a point to go talk to Snape, to brush up against him, and to shower him with looks. Yet nothing had happened. No invitation for dinner, no suggestion for a stroll in the snow—Snape hadn't even sat next to him during a staff meeting. Maybe Harry was doing something wrong. But whatever that was, Harry planned on making up for it with this gift. Once he had everything figured out.

adventdrabbles' Dec 19 Prompt: Office Party

A/N: All entries to this series can be found here.
The annual staff party took place three days before Christmas, when the children weren't expecting proper classes anyway and a hangover could be properly nursed as it should: with a hangover potion, greasy food, and silencing spells. Before it came to that, though, they had to have an evening of fun.
It started harmless enough. Minerva served her famous spiked eggnog, Filch continued his strange little attempt to woo Madam Pince, Hagrid tried to get Filius to arm-wrestle him—and lost when Filius used a couple of charms in their match. But then the new assistant professor for Ancient Runes, Albert, started hitting on Harry. And he wasn't subtle about it either.
"You must be playing a lot of Quidditch!" he exclaimed and squeezed the muscles on Harry's arm. "You're so fit!"
"I—thanks. I guess." Harry quickly put a couple of snacks on a plate and maneuvered them so that it served as a barrier between them. He glanced over at Snape, who was talking to Minerva. Albert couldn't know that Harry was¬—well, not taken, but definitely not interested. He was new to Hogwarts and probably was looking for some company. "So—um. How do you like working at Hogwarts?"
"Oh, it's great! And I get to meet such interesting people!"
Harry smiled weakly and moved backwards, away from Albert, who suddenly wore a very mischievous expression on his face. "Oh look! A mistletoe!" When he moved closer, things took another turn.
With a stifled yell and a comical grimace, Albert stumbled. Instead of him, Snape was suddenly standing next to Harry, pulled Harry close and kissed him, right there in the staff lounge, under the mistletoe for everyone to see. Harry might have imagined it, but he could swear Snape had growled "Mine!" right before their kiss.
