I give you MUSIC!
Since my room-mates are blocking the kitchen (and my pot) and
lilithilien said I should give you the music that was brutally shunned by everyone else here:
First of all "Die Fantastischen Vier" (engl. The Fantastic Four - has nothing to do with the comics) with "Geboren" (engl. Born). It's about different courses of life and the search for answers to why. Their respose to that: I have no clue.
And another song of them: "Troy" (phonetically the same as the German word "treu", which means "faithful"). It's a song for their fans and they are thanking everyone for staying true to them.
Onto another popular band: Die Ärzte (engl. The Doctors) and their relatively new song "Junge" (engl. boy). It's about a boy who isn't like his parents want him to be - he's a rebel, he's a punk and they implore him to change and lead a different life, because "what would the neighbours say?".
Another reason why you should watch this: IT HAS ZOMBIES! (and it's the uncut version, meaning there is even more blood :P)
Now and "old" classic - Die Toten Hosen (engl. ~The dead trousers; also meaning that nothing is going on in the(ir) pants) with "10 kleine Jägermeister" (engl. 10 little huntermen - also refers to the schnapps "Jägermeister", which is also sold in little shot-bottles):
And now on to the dialect-ish songs! (Muahaha!) I'm just giving you two, though, and just from one band De Bläck Fööss (engl. The Black/Bare Feet).
The first one is "Drink Doch Ene Met" (engl. ~(Come on) have a drink with us). It's about seeing someone standing there in front of the bar, wanting to belong and drink with the other people, but not having any money. And he gets invited in and they buy him a drink, so he doesn't have to be alone anymore.
And this last one is/was one of my favourites. When I was a kid I even had the LP of this one. It's called "Dat Wasser Vun Kölle" (engl. The water from Cologne) and in it the singer(s) implore God to give them water, because they (and their birds and the washing machine and everything and everyone) are thirsty. And they sing that the water from Cologne is wonderful.
And this was gin's big German Music Post! Thank you for your attention - I have to go and cook some lunch now. :D

no subject
And the animation in "10 kleine Jägermeister" rocks!
That last one is great too, such a cool gospel-style groove. Makes me want to go to Cologne.....
Thanks so much for sharing!
