"I hate you!" Harry shouts into the night as Snape runs off, taking the only way out that is left for traitors. "I hate you!" he repeats, knowing full well that he will not be heard – Snape is already too far away and the sounds of the battle are too loud, too close. Harry struggles to get up and runs back towards the castle to defend what is left and drive the remaining Death Eaters back. It is anger and hate that keeps him going and he clings to both, fearing that letting them go would make him break down.

"I hate you," Harry whispers into the folds of Snape's torn robes as Snape picks him up. His whole body hurts and he is lucky to have survived when Voldemort did not. He is lucky that Snape is here to fend off those of the Death Eaters that are still standing and seeking revenge for their master's death.
He clings to Snape, never having dared to think that he would feel save with him. But he does. The last few years Snape has done everything to keep Harry save, no matter what has happened during that night of Dumbledore's death.

"I hate you!" Harry shouts again, this time standing in front of Snape's door, pounding against the wood with his fists. His chest is heaving, his eyes wet. "I hate you! I hate you for making me feel this way," he tells the door, resting his forehead against it. "For making my heart and my stomach and my mind do summersaults when I see you." He whispers the last part, having no hope of ever being heard, of ever getting the response he longs for.
He is about to leave, has already turned, in fact, when the door opens slowly.

"I hate you," Harry mumbles, somewhat fondly, but still wearing an indignant pout. Severus just smirks at him as he pops the last bit of chocolate that had been in the box into his mouth.
"I know," Severus says, definitely sounding smug, and Harry can't help himself but to smile. He leans over the armrests of both their armchairs and kisses Severus gently on the lips. Both of them part their lips at the same time and as their tongues touch Harry can taste the chocolate in Severus' mouth. For him, he decides, there isn't a thing that's more delicious.

"I hate you." Harry's voice is as weak as he feels as he sits down at their kitchen table. Severus wordlessly puts a cup of chamomile tea in front of him and bestows a kiss on top of Harry's head. Harry breaths in deeply, trying to calm his stomach.
Harry reaches out and catches Severus' hand in his, squeezing gently and giving him a small smile that Severus mirrors. This whole thing came as a surprise to both of them, but they are going through it together. And Harry cannot deny that this is something he has always dreamt of.

Harry leans back into Severus' embrace and sighs happily. This. This is what he has longed for all the time. For love and a family and that sort of happiness that fills your whole body, that is all-consuming.
Severus presses a kiss to Harry's temple as both of them look down at the crib and the perfect baby that it holds. It's theirs, the result of their love – how could it be anything but perfect?
Harry looks up into Severus eyes, thinking that he has finally found his home. "I love you," he says and closes the distance between them.
