"Good morning!" Lucius greeted Oliver cheerfully and waved his cup in a way that threatened to spill coffee everywhere in the kitchen.
"What's good about it?" Oliver asked, glaring at Lucius like he had stolen the last éclair. He sat down at the table and stared at his cup of fennel tea. Lucius sat down his mug and encircled Oliver's shoulders with his arms, gently pressing kisses of Oliver's neck.
"Bad?" Oliver nodded.
"Nearly made me decide not to eat anything before going to bed."
"Nearly." Lucius chuckled. "You know that the doctor warned us about this. She said that because your body isn't prepared for this condition the possibility for morning-sickness is much higher than for women."
"I know." Oliver groaned. "I just hadn't thought it would be that bad."
"I know, love." Lucius stroked over Oliver's slightly damp hair. "Common, lets go and lie down on the sofa for a bit."
"Don't you have to leave for work soon?"
"Nah, Almeda can start without me today." Oliver smiled at him and let Lucius lead him over to the sofa, where he rested his head against Lucius chest. Their hand rested on Oliver's tummy, Oliver's calm and Lucius' stroking gently over the revealed skin.
"I just hope this sickness-phase will stop soon. I'm fed up with it. Have been since it started."
"You are in your 3rd month, love. Don't worry, it won't take much longer."
"Yeah and then I'll get fat." Lucius frowned at Oliver's tone.
"You wanted this. You wanted to use the fertilizer and the spells."
"I know, Lucius. I'm sorry, I'm just being cranky."
"So you haven't changed your opinion ...?"
"Merlin, no! I want this child, Lucius. Have you thought about what we're going to do?"
"...For the first while everyone else will just think you gained a bit of weigh. This is really no surprise when you look at what you eat." Oliver elbowed Lucius' stomach. "Hey! It's true!" Another elbow collided with him. "Okay, I yield. Anyway, some time you will not look fat, but pregnant and nobody will buy the thing with gaining weight. So either we hide you or we will go public."
"But when we go public won't there be people who will attack you?" His voice was small, nearly shy. He knew that sometime he had to hold his wishes back in sake of Lucius' career. Even if this meant that he had to hide here in their flat.
But Lucius shook his head.
"Of course they will, sooner or later. Later meaning the time when the baby is born. Or do you want to hide the fact that it is ours?" Oliver shook his head frantically. "See? So they will have to find out sooner or later. And better we tell them before they find out themselves and create a scandal." Oliver nodded.
"So it's going to be a public announcement?"
"Yes. With a press conference."
"I hate those. So, you already planned everything even before I asked you?"
"Yes." Lucius looked quite proud of himself. Oliver grinned wryly.
"Typical." Then he grimaced suddenly.
"What is it?" Lucius sounded concerned immediately.
"They are going to take pictures." Lucius exhaled slowly.
"Of course they will."
"I hate to see my picture in the tabloids. They'll be after me and my tummy. And everywhere will be walrus pics of me." Lucius laughed and earned himself a glare.
"So you don't want to do it?"
"Huh? Oh, no, I'll do it. But don't expect me to stop whining and cursing."
"I would never."
"Good." Oliver grinned and looked at his watch. "You need to go, hot-ass. Almeda will kill you if you don't show up soon." Lucius looked over Oliver's shoulder at the watch and all but jumped up with a very unmanly squeak and threw Oliver on the floor. "Hey, watch it, you gargoyle! Pregnant person here!"
"Sorry." At least Lucius had the decency to blush and look sheepishly.
"Yeah, yeah." Oliver let Lucius help him up. "I'm going to take a shower and then head of for work. I'll see you in the evening, okay?"
"Of course, love." Lucius kissed Oliver lovingly before grabbing some Floo-powder and stepping into the fireplace. He was gone in a matter of seconds. Oliver shook his head and smiled fondly, before going into the bathroom.
He stepped into their spacious shower that was made for two and turned on the water, standing on the side so the cold water wouldn't hit him. He tested with his hand if the temperature was alright and then stepped under the water. For a long time he just stood there, letting the water wash away the sweat that had collected from the previous night - the sex before falling asleep in Lucius' arms and later the restless tossing and turning - and the morning-sickness. When he finally stared to move again he first washed his hair, then took the shower gel to massage his body. When he was done his hands rested on his stomach and he looked down on it. Soon it would start to show. He couldn't wait for the day he would look at himself in the mirror and actually see - not only know - that he was pregnant. He, who had always dreamt of a family, a real family. He would make everything better than his parents had. Or Lucius' parents. They would be better. They wouldn't repeat history. They wouldn't would they?
Oliver stared at his hands. What if he became like his father? What if he something happened, what if something made him terribly unhappy and he started drinking? And hitting his loved ones? And hitting his baby? What if he became like his mother? His mother, who had faded away and killed herself before he had even left school. What if he wasn't strong enough to be a good father?
And Lucius? Would he be strong enough? Would he stay the Lucius he knew? Or would he change and become someone he didn't know anymore? Would he become cruel and distant like his father?

Hours later Lucius stumbled through the fireplace and frantically searched for Oliver. He found him sitting in the armchair in their bedroom, wrapped up in a blanket. He stared into space and didn't even look up when Lucius walked into the room. Only when Lucius kneeled down in front of him on the carpet and wrapped his arms around Oliver's waist Oliver let out a shaky breath.
"Your Department owled me." Lucius said after a while. "They said you hadn't showed up for work and hadn't called in sick." He looked up and caressed Oliver's cheeks. "What happened, love?" Oliver swallowed.
"I ..."
"Has something happened? To the baby?"
It took Oliver long to answer.
"What if we're not going to manage?"
"Manage? Manage what?"
"Being parents." Lucius blinked.
"That's it? You sat here all day, because you were wondering about our qualities as parents?" He let go off of Oliver and stood up, not understanding anything at all. "I was worried sick, you know." He shook his head. "I left an important meeting, because I feared something might have happened to you." He walked to the door.
"Lucius." He turned around. Oliver's voice was so full of despair. "What if we're going to be like our fathers? What if we're going to hurt the baby? Lucius, I can't ... I ..." Tears started rolling down Oliver's cheeks and Lucius back to his side in the blink of an eye, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close. Oliver slid down from the armchair and let himself be gathered up in Lucius' strong arms.
"Are you really worried about that?" Lucius asked softly and felt Oliver nod against the crook of his neck.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Oliver mumbled over and over again, chanting, and Lucius rocked him slowly to the words.
"Its okay, love." Lucius felt at a loss of words. He didn't know how to comfort his crying husband, didn't know what made him think that one of them could ever be able to hurt their child.
"I shouldn't have worried you. I'm so sorry. I won't do it again. I'm so sorry."
"Ssssh, ssssh, love. Everything will be alright, you will see. We aren't going to be like them. Never think that again. You are going to be a wonderful father. You will love our child more than anyone could. And I will do everything to be as good as a father as you." Lucius rubbed his hands in circles over Oliver's back, soothing him to a point where his sobs were reduced to quiet hiccups. "Common, let's get you into bed. You need rest." He said and helped Oliver to stand. "You shouldn't get yourself worked up so much." He tucked Oliver in and stroked his cheeks gently. "Sleep. I'll call your office and tell them you aren't feeling well and then I'm going to cook you some soup." Oliver snorted.
"Please spare my kitchen, Luc."
"Are you implying that I can't cook?"
"No. I would never. I'm implying that you would blow up my kitchen." Oliver stuck out his tongue.
"Hey! I have you to know that Potions was one of my best subjects at school!"
"Ah, yes. But your potions tasted like shit. There was a reason why I rather tested Snape's." Lucius huffed.
"Fine. I'll order something." And with a last glance at Oliver he left the room. If Oliver could already tell him to stay away from the kitchen, he was getting better.
